Formulate the question first

'Check the composition' may mean different work: identify the main material, measure a specified component, compare two samples or check a specification indicator. Start with the circumstance to be established and the documents that gave rise to the question.

What a test report provides

A test report records test results for identified samples and indicators. When reading it, check which object was received, which method was used, the result's units and any conditions or limitations stated. A material's name in an application and an established characteristic are different information.

How an expert answer is constructed

An expert examination task connects examination results to source data and particular questions. Checking the composition of supplied raw material, for example, requires contractual specifications, information about the sample and results for relevant indicators. The finding should show that connection rather than repeat a figure without explanation.

What to provide for preliminary consideration

Prepare a description of the situation, quality certificate or specification, labelling, photographs and existing test reports. State whether the source material and a comparison sample survive. The testing programme and transfer of physical objects are agreed after this consideration.
