Chemical examination / Area 01

Substances and industrial raw materials

Establishing the composition of a submitted substance, determining agreed components and impurities, and comparing it with documentation or a control sample.

Possible questions

  • Which components were identified in the sample supplied using the methods applied?
  • What is the content of the particular component specified in the assignment?
  • Which differences were established between the samples supplied for the indicators examined?

What to prepare for consideration

  • A description of the object, its purpose and provenance.
  • Quality certificate, specification and batch information.
  • Available test reports and control samples.

The result under discussion

A written document describing source data, work performed, results obtained and answers to the agreed questions. Appendices and document format are determined by the assignment.

Price and programme

from RUB 60,000

An indicative price for basic expert work. Laboratory tests, sampling and sample delivery are priced separately. The full estimate, specialists, timing and permissible consumption of the object are agreed before work begins.

How to check a disputed raw-material batch using documents and samples

A supplier dispute can begin with a table: which indicator was agreed, where it is recorded and which result is offered to support it. A substance name on a label, a quality certificate and an analysis report describe different information. Connect documents to the batch number, production date and particular containers or products supplied.

  • Identify the disputed indicator, required value, unit and permissible range if provided by the documentation.
  • Retain the specification version and certificate for the exact disputed batch.
  • Identify where the examination and comparison samples came from: sealed containers, a production line or already-used material.
  • Attach test reports in full, including method, sample preparation, indicator list and notes.

Two numerical results cannot always be compared directly. A value may concern dry matter, the original product or a separated portion of a mixture; units may also differ. If a report says a component was not detected, check which concentration level the method could detect. That entry alone does not mean the component is wholly absent.

Determine separately what the sample represents: one unit, a composite sample or material from several batches. A result for a submitted fragment cannot be extended without explanation to the entire delivery. A report needs more than tabulated values: every result must connect to the object and question posed.
